Transponders

Each car needs to be equipped with 2 working Transponders.

Transponders are used for lap counting, and timing during the FRed Lobster 100. If your car is on the track, it needs working transponders mounted correctly. Install them securely and in the proper location. Loose, hidden, backwards, or badly mounted transponders can cause missed laps. If you are unsure where they go, ask another driver or look at a returning car.

Each car must be equipped with two matching, working transponders. The cost is $20 per set, which includes both transponders for one car. Transponders are assigned to a specific car. If you switch to a different car, you will need to purchase a new set for that vehicle.

Placing a simple shield like the one pictured above can help keep mud from accumulating on the transponders. Do not place the shields too close to the transponders. It may cause interference.

We will be checking all transponders on Friday during the heat races. This is when we verify that your transponders are properly picking up on the lap counting system.

If your transponders do not register during the heat races, you will need to replace them before Saturday’s main event.

Transponder issues are one of the biggest things that slow us down on Friday, so please check yours ahead of time. If your transponders are more than two years old, or if they look faded, cracked, or weathered, go ahead and change them out now and save everyone time later.
